This Privacy Policy applies to all products (“Products”) published by Commuter Games, including our applications and games distributed on Meta Horizon OS and other platforms. By using our Products, you agree to the collection and use of data as described in this document.
Our Products collect and process user data. The categories of data we collect, the purposes for which we process them, and the way you can request their deletion are described below.
This Privacy Policy may be updated as our Products evolve. Updates are effective immediately upon publication.
1. Data we collect and process
Our Products collect and process personal data in order to provide their features — for example: online multiplayer, leaderboards, in-app purchases, and platform services. Different Products may use different services and therefore may collect different data categories. Each Product only collects the data required for the features it actually includes; if a Product does not include a feature that requires a specific data category, that category is not collected for that Product.
Commuter Games does not operate its own servers. The data described in this Policy is collected and processed on our behalf by the trusted third-party service providers listed in Section 3, who store it under their own security and compliance frameworks. This does not change the fact that the data described below is collected and processed when you use our Products.
Depending on the specific Product and platform, the following categories of data are collected:
1.1 Meta Horizon Platform Data
Our Products published on Meta Horizon OS request access to the platform features listed below through Meta’s Data Use Checkup (DUC). When you use a Product that includes these features, the following data is collected from the Meta Platform SDK and processed for the stated purposes:
| Platform feature | Data collected | How we use it |
|---|---|---|
| User ID | Your Meta account ID, scoped to the Product | Keep your progress, settings, and purchases linked to your account across sessions |
| User Profile | Your display name and avatar image | Show your name and avatar in menus, lobbies, and race standings |
| Friends | Your friends / followers who also use the Product | Show which friends are online, and let you join or invite them |
| Invites | Invitation tokens, sender and recipient user IDs | Send, receive, and accept invitations to multiplayer sessions |
| Deep Linking | Destination and session identifiers in the app launch payload | Launch you straight into a specific session, for example when accepting an invitation |
| In-App Purchases | Purchase and entitlement records, product identifiers | Confirm ownership, unlock purchased content, and restore purchases |
| Blocked Users | Your platform block list | Hide, mute, and avoid matchmaking with users you have blocked |
We also perform entitlement validation at launch to confirm ownership of the Product.
We do not receive payment information, credit card data, billing addresses, or identity documents. All payment processing is handled by the platform operator.
1.2 Multiplayer & Networking Data (Photon / Exit Games)
Collected in Products that include online multiplayer, networking, or voice chat:
- Network identifiers
- Region selection
- IP address (for routing and matchmaking)
- Session and connection logs
- Voice audio streams, transmitted in real time between players in a session and not recorded or stored by us
This data is required to operate real-time online multiplayer features.
Voice chat is optional. Voice audio is captured only if you have granted microphone permission to the Product on your device, and you can stop transmitting at any time using the in-game mute control. If microphone permission is not granted, no voice audio is captured or transmitted.
1.3 Cloudflare (for content delivery and downloads)
If the Product downloads content or files using Cloudflare services, Cloudflare collects:
- Connecting IP address
- Request and traffic logs
- Device and connection metadata
This data is used solely for delivering content and protecting the service from abuse.
1.4 Gameplay Analytics & Progression Data (PlayFab)
For Products that use analytics, cloud saves, or leaderboards via PlayFab, the following is collected:
- PlayFab-assigned user identifier, linked to your platform account ID
- Gameplay events and performance metrics
- In-game progression and statistics
- Leaderboard scores
- Device info (model, OS, region)
- Crash reports
This data helps us understand how players use our Products so we can improve gameplay, performance, and stability.
1.5 Player Reports and Moderation Data
If a Product includes player reporting or moderation features, we collect the user identifiers of the reporting and reported players, the session in which the report was made, and the report reason. Reports are transmitted to a private moderation channel hosted on Discord and accessible only to Commuter Games. This data is used solely to review reports and to enforce our terms of service, including issuing account suspensions where warranted.
2. Purpose of Data Collection
Data is collected only for the features a Product actually provides. Depending on the feature set of the Product, data is used for:
- User authentication and entitlement verification
- Online multiplayer services, matchmaking, and voice chat
- Leaderboards, race standings, and social features
- In-app purchase validation and restoration
- Gameplay analytics to improve performance, stability, and user experience
- Crash diagnostics and error reporting
- Content delivery and protection from abuse or fraud
- Enforcement of our terms of service, including moderation and anti-cheat measures
We do not sell user data, and we do not use it for advertising or share it with advertising networks.
Outside of the platform ecosystem, Commuter Games cannot use the collected data to personally identify a user.
2.1 Local Device Storage
Some of our Products store data locally on your device. This can include:
- Saved game progress
- User preferences and settings
- Locally cached assets or downloads
- Configuration files
- Temporary data required for product functionality
- In-app purchase receipts (platform-handled, for validation only)
This data is stored on your device and is not transmitted to our service providers unless required by a specific online feature (such as cloud saves, leaderboards, entitlement validation, or multiplayer services).
You may delete this data by uninstalling the Product from your device. Depending on the platform, some cached data may also be cleared in the platform settings.
3. Third-Party Service Providers
Our Products rely on the following providers, depending on platform and features:
- Meta Platforms, Inc. (Meta Horizon OS / Meta Quest Platform)
- Exit Games GmbH (Photon Realtime / Fusion / PUN / Photon Voice)
- Microsoft / PlayFab
- Cloudflare, Inc.
- Discord, Inc. (delivery and review of player reports, where the Product includes reporting features)
- Apple, Google, Meta, Pico or iQiyi (for platform-specific in-app purchases)
- Unity Technologies (engine services and crash reports; not Unity Analytics)
Each provider processes and stores data according to its own Privacy Policy and compliance frameworks. Not every Product uses every provider; only the services required by the Product’s features are used.
4. Children’s Privacy
Our Products are not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe your child has provided us data, please contact us at info [at] commuter.games and we will delete it.
5. Data Storage, Retention, and Security
Commuter Games does not operate its own servers. All data described in this Policy is stored and processed by the third-party providers listed in Section 3, under their own security frameworks.
Data is retained only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for. Session and connection data is retained for the duration of the session and short-term diagnostic logging. Progression, leaderboard, and entitlement data is retained while your account remains active in the Product, and is deleted on request as described in Section 6. Moderation records are retained for as long as the associated enforcement action remains in effect.
We use industry-standard networking practices and rely on the security systems of our partners, but no system can guarantee absolute security.
5.1 Data Security on the User’s Device
Local data stored by our Products may be encrypted, obfuscated, or otherwise protected to prevent human-readable access. These protections are implemented to reduce the risk of unauthorized interpretation or manipulation of saved data. However, no security method can guarantee absolute protection under all circumstances.
6. Data Access, Correction, and Deletion
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at any time, free of charge.
To make a request, email info [at] commuter.games with:
- The name of the Product
- The platform you’re using (e.g., Meta Quest, Pico, Steam)
- Your platform user identifier (e.g., Meta User ID, PlayFab ID — if available)
We will acknowledge your request within 7 days and complete it within 30 days. Upon receiving a deletion request, we will delete the data under our control and instruct the third-party providers used by that Product (such as PlayFab or Photon) to delete their copies.
Meta Quest users may also request deletion directly through Meta Account → Apps and Websites → Manage Data, which sends a deletion request to us automatically.
We will fulfill deletion requests except where we are required to retain data by law, or where retention is necessary to enforce an active account suspension arising from a violation of our terms of service. If we cannot fulfill part of a request, we will tell you which data is affected and why. Aggregated or anonymized data that can no longer be linked to you may be retained for analytics purposes.
